Theater FroeFroe makes puppet theatre for children, young people and adults. Their productions contain all kinds of cross-overs between puppets, figures, objects, video, actors and live music. They are not afraid to try any experiment in form, concept or discipline. The result is hip puppet theatre, a children’s theatre without childishness, theatre that digs and pinches.
The performances are based on original work, books, repertory theatre or commissions from Dutch-speaking writers and composers.
FroeFroe makes puppet theatre for small and very small theatres, locations, tents and casual projects.

The puppet maker and actor Marc Maillard set up FroeFroe children’s theatre in 1986. Due to subsidy difficulties, he was forced to leave his theatre company to Blauw Vier for some time, while he himself worked full-time in television. After the necessary changes had taken place at government level, he went back to work as a theatre-maker and once again became artistic and business director of Froe Froe.

The company’s home base is De Vrije Val II, an old warehouse in Antwerp that has been converted into a small theatre and adjoining workshop space. In this workshop, they make puppets and props for themselves and for colleagues as well. Besides De Vrije Val II, the company has another warehouse called Fort4, that also serves as a workspace, in Mortsel.

In addition, FroeFroe aims to invest in education by setting up puppet theatre workshops and master classes, for example. Its goal is to be a dynamic, stimulating workplace and breeding ground for puppet theatre and other multidisciplinary forms of theatre.
