Judas Theater Producties (JTP) was founded in 1999 and has been operating on a professional basis since 2005. The core of the company consists of young creatives who surround themselves with veterans of the Dutch and Flemish theatre worlds.
Judas Theater Producties wishes to present itself as a musical theatre company in several ways. Firstly, it mounts large-scale musicals such as The Party is Over, written and performed by Anne Mie Gils and Pol Vanfleteren, and The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown. Ganesha – Een perfecte god (2010) is the company’s first completely new creation. Allard Blom wrote the lyrics, which he based on a story by Terrence McNally. It is directed by Martin Michel.
Secondly, the company wants to fill a gap in the musical theatre scene by means of smaller-scale productions. Je Anne (2009), for example, was an intimate musical theatre production based on the diaries of Anne Frank.
Lastly, the company intends to act as a musical laboratory, a place where recent musical theatre graduates will be welcome. In this way, JTP is also meant to become a think-tank and platform for innovation in musical theatre.
