If you are a young festival director, the European Festival Association invites you to one of the Ateliers for Young Festival Managers. One will be organized in Izmir (Turkey) from 24-31 October 2011, the other will take place in Singapore from 14-21 May 2011. The Ateliers each consists of an intense and rigorous one week training platform addressed at emerging artistic festival directors or those who have ambitions to become involved in programming or in programming-related departments within a festival. It is all about formulating experiences and passing on knowledge to a next (new) generation of festival makers: knowledge about the arts, artists and festival formulas, thematically focusing on the art and the artist. The Atelier will bring together 45 festival managers from all over the world. Festival directors including Bernard Faivre d’Arcier, Rose Fenton, Goh Ching Lee, Hugo De Greef and Nele Hertling, together with a range of festival pioneers coming in for at least 2 days guide the work throughout the week. In lectures, one-to-one talks, group discussions as well as intense workshops about case studies, participants discuss issues touching upon artistic vision, political and social responsibility, internationalisation, networking, renewal and sustainability.
The Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Asia is co-organised between the European Festivals Association and LaSalle College of the Arts Singapore – in partnership with the Association of Asian Performing Arts Festivals (AAPAF), the Singapore International Arts Festival and the Asia-Europe Foundation. The Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Europe is co-organised between EFA and the International Izmir Festival.
