Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker to receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Dance Festival (ADF) will award Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker with the Samuel H. Scripps / American Dance Festival Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Established in 1981 by Samuel H. Scripps and the ADF, the annual award honors choreographers 'who have dedicated their lives and talent to the creation of modern dance'. Past recipients of the Samuel H. Scripps /American Dance Festival Award include: Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Trisha Brown, Meredith Monk, Anna Halprin and Pina Bausch. The award will be presented to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker by Stuart Hodes, former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company and partner of Martha Graham, in a special ceremony on Saturday, June 11th at Reynolds Industries Theater in Durham (North Carolina) prior to her company’s performance of Rosas danst Rosas. The award includes a $50,000 prize.

The 78th season of the American Dance Festival will take place from June 9 to July 23. The festival will be entitled 'Something New, Something Treasured'. For detailed information please visit www.americandancefestival.org.
