De Tijd

Like other companies in the ‘Flemish Wave’, De Tijd emerged on the margins of the theatre scene in the eighties. In the mid-nineties it created a furore with its spoken theatre and found itself at the heart of events in the performing arts world. Against the background of the present wave of multidisciplinary and technological work, this medium-sized company consistently continues to work on developing a single-discipline language-based theatre.

KOPERGIETERY emerged from Speeltheater Gent, the company founded by Eva Bal in 1978. The then Ministry of Culture had asked her to give youth theatre a new elan. This led to Speeltheater Gent, a place where theatre for and by young people was the central feature. Speeltheater Gent only found its own permanent location in 1993: a former factory premises where copper was once founded was given a new use and hence KOPERGIETERY (‘copper foundry’) was born.

Lapzus

http://www.lapzus.com

Lapzus creates dance theatre for a young audience. The company was founded by Frauke Depreitere and Filip Bilsen at the end of 2008. They met one another as performers with the youth section of fABULEUS in Leuven. They were the first to move on and set to work as producers. Together with author Greetje Bilsen (Filip’s sister) they created Mijn benen zijn al lang, maar de wereld staat op stelten (2000) which immediately put them on the map: an uninhibited mixture of language and movement, of authenticity and kitsch and an almost reckless performance or dance style.

Theater FroeFroe

http://www.froefroe.be

Theater FroeFroe makes puppet theatre for children, young people and adults. Their productions contain all kinds of cross-overs between puppets, figures, objects, video, actors and live music. They are not afraid to try any experiment in form, concept or discipline. The result is hip puppet theatre, a children’s theatre without childishness, theatre that digs and pinches.
The performances are based on original work, books, repertory theatre or commissions from Dutch-speaking writers and composers.
